Simple Couture was launched in 2008 with the aim of offering a collection of designs that are casual in their style, uncomplicated in their design and construction, and refined in their detail. Unlike the designs in the Couture Collection which are available only as kits, Simple Couture designs are presented as pattern + yarn + notions, each purchased separately. The patterns were initially offered in a booklet format, but with the opening of The Shop, they are being converted into a pdf download format to make their accessibility as easy, convenient and immediate as possible.
Further, in order to simplify and shorten the patterns as well as reduce their cost, all of the common Construction Notes and all of the Techniques used in Simple Couture patterns have been extracted from the patterns and compiled in the form of a handbook called The Companion to Simple Couture Patterns. Every pattern refers to the notes and techniques in The Companion; it is an essential adjunct to the pattern directions; but rather than having the same information repeated in each pattern, as it is in the Couture Collection, it is presented separately in a single booklet used with each pattern and purchased only once.
